William Allan is an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist who works with individual adults, young people (age 11+), couples and families. He works with a wide range of issues and problems including: depression/low mood; anxiety; stress; eating and body image issues; trauma; grief/loss; life transitions; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); chronic illness; habitual behaviours; autism spectrum disorders; anger; assertiveness; relaxation; and many more issues. 

He has a particular interest in working with trauma; grief; reality choice; and sex addiction/sex and love addiction. He also particularly enjoys working with families/family therapy

William's way of working

William works in a holistic way with clients and believes in tailoring the therapy experience – using elements of different therapeutic approaches –  to meet the needs and preferences of each individual. He incorporates elements from a variety of therapy approaches including: Counselling; Psychotherapy; Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Mindfulness-Based Therapy; DBT-informed therapy; Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy; Solution Focused Therapy; and the psychodynamic approach. 

William's background and experience

William has extensive experience of working in support and therapy roles in both local authority and private settings. 

He has an MSc in Addiction and Psychological Studies from the University of Glasgow; a BA (hons) in Criminal Justice from the University of the West of Scotland; and an HNC in Social Care and Counselling from Motherwell College. 

William's fee
