
Dr Giovanna Cameron is a counselling psychologist who works with individual adults and couples with a wide range of concerns including: anxiety; depression/low mood; stress; abuse; ADHD; assertiveness; Autism Spectrum Disorder; bereavement/grief; bullying; eating and body image issues; life transitions; loneliness; low self-esteem; misophonia; neglect; phobias; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); trauma; and many more issues.
She has a special interest in working with anxiety (including health anxiety), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), perfectionism and relationship issues.
Giovanna is committed to supporting clients who are neurodiverse, those from different cultural backgrounds, and those from the LGBTQ+ communities.
Giovanna has a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University as well as an MSc in Psychological Science and a BSc (hons) in Physiology from the University of Glasgow.
Giovanna is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Giovanna's way of working
Giovanna works in a collaborative and client-led way. She uses a number of different therapy types and offers a choice of approach to each client at the beginning of the therapy process, tailoring her approach according to their individual needs and preferences. Giovanna mainly uses Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Therapy and integrates other approaches such as Mindulness Based Therapy, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT-Informed Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Schema-Informed CBT into her therapeutic work where appropriate.Giovanna is committed to supporting clients who are neurodiverse, those from different cultural backgrounds, and those from the LGBTQ+ communities.
Giovanna's background and training
Giovanna has supported people in a number of organisations in the third sector as well as in the NHS where she worked with women who had experienced domestic violence.
