Barry's way of working
Barry is a dedicated and supportive practitioner. He is committed to creating a strong therapeutic relationship with each client in order to provide a supportive and empowering environment in which clients feel safe to explore their issues and work towards change. He works from a client centred perspective and tailors his counselling/psychotherapy approach to meet the unique needs and preferences of each client. In particular, Barry is passionate about Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and he aims to equip clients with evidence-based CBT skills to manage their symptoms and improve their mental wellbeing.
Barry’s background and training
Barry has worked in various roles, including as a senior residential worker, youth development worker, and project worker, where he supported young people in care, worked with marginalised groups, and facilitated therapeutic activities aimed at promoting wellbeing and positive outcomes.
Barry has a Post-Graduate Diploma in CBT and Groupwork from ACT Glasgow, a BA degree in Community Development, a COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate and additional training in Trauma-Informed Practice.
Barry is a student member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
