
Andrew Benn is an applied psychology practitioner who works with individual adults with a wide range of issues and problems including: anxiety; depression/low mood; stress; abuse/neglect; anger/aggression; assertiveness; autism spectrum disorder; bereavement/grief; chronic illness; eating and body image issues; gender and sexual identity; loneliness; life transitions; relationship concerns; obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD); post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); relaxation; self-harm; and many other issues.
As well as his work for First Psychology, Andrew is also a specialist mentor who supports students across Scotland who are experiencing mental health concerns that may impact their studies.
Andrew has an MSc in Psychology from Middlesex University and a Graduate Certificate in Counselling Psychology from City, University of London. He is also currently in the final stages of a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. In addition, Andrew has a BA(hons) in Popular Music and Recording from the University of Salford.
Andrew is a Graduate member of The British Psychological Society (BPS).
Andrew's way of working
Andrew is an enthusiastic practitioner who is passionate about supporting people. He works in a holistic way and aims to build a strong therapeutic relationship with each client. He believes this is the key to the therapeutic process. Andrew offers counselling / psychotherapy; Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and tailors his approach to meet the needs and preferences of each client.Andrew's background and training
