Couples/Relationship Counselling

Relationship counselling/couples counselling close to Glasgow’s city centre

We offer a specialised relationship counselling / couples counselling service in our Glasgow centre. This is for those experiencing relationship difficulties or whose specific problems are affecting the lives of those around them in ways that are hard to manage.

How does relationship counselling/couples counselling differ from other forms of counselling?

Relationship counselling or couples counselling (these terms often mean the same thing) differs from individual counselling, psychotherapy, CBT or coaching in that the sole focus of the work is on the relationship and often the patterns of communication and/or behaviour that create difficulties in the relationship. Therapy often involves identifying and understanding these patterns and then creating new ways of doing things to make them better (if this is what both people want).

Will a relationship/couples counsellor take sides?

One of the great benefits of working with an experienced counsellor / psychotherapist, CBT therapist or psychologist on relationship issues is that there is an independent person able to stand back from what is being experienced by both partners to provide a different perspective and insight. It is not about taking sides or favouring one partner over the other, but it is about finding ways to help both partners understand each other better in the relationship that can enable change. To read our relationship counselling case study click here.
