Dr Maria Gascon, Counselling Psychologist at First Psychology Centre, Glasgow
Maria is a highly experienced Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over ten years' experience working in a variety of settings including the NHS, primary care and education.
She has a doctoral level PsychD in counselling psychology and has also undertaken training in a range of areas and approaches including group analytic therapy. She is registered with the Health Professions Council as a psychologist and is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society.
She has worked extensively with adults, adolescents, children and families. She is happy to work with a wide range of issues and concerns, and has a particular interest in working with difficulties arising from depression, anxiety, relationship issues and the effects of trauma.
Maria uses a range of therapeutic approaches in her work, including cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy, as well as counselling and psychotherapy from a broadly psychodynamic perspective. She is fluent in Spanish and is happy to work with people who would feel more comfortable speaking in this language. Maria sees individuals, couples and young people at the First Psychology Centre.
