Asperger's Syndrome - what is it and what can be done to help?
Asperger's Syndrome is a type of autism that affects how people relate and communicate with others.
People with Asperger's Syndrome usually have problems in three main areas: communication, social interaction and imagination.
It is believed a number of physical factors may be responsible for the development of Asperger's Syndrome, but no one cause has been identified. What is known, is that childhood neglect or emotional deprivation are not responsible (as is commonly believed).
Asperger's Syndrome is a life-time condition relating to the way the brain is hardwired. It can't be cured for this reason, but there are things that can be done to help those with Asperger's Syndrome become more independent and able to cope with life.
